Otoe Mori Releases Debut Smooth Jazz Single “The Way To You”

Otoe Mori Japanese saxophonist and debut single The Way To You

Born in Nagano, Japan, Otoe Mori was given a name that means “blessed with music,” a fitting reflection of her lifelong connection to the art of music. Inspired by the sounds of her father’s saxophone and clarinet, she discovered a deep connection to music at an early age. Her passion continued growing throughout her school years before eventually studying music formally at YAMAHA Music Academy.

While studying, Otoe successfully auditioned for the brass pop band Brass Plus, who released an album under Sony Music Entertainment and toured extensively across Japan performing as a multi-instrumentalist with both saxophone and clarinet. She also performed in the Japanese musical adaptation of Mr. Holland’s Opus, sharing the stage with prominent Japanese actors.

In 2003, Otoe moved to the United States and quickly immersed herself in the local music scene. Over the years, she has performed with a diverse range of accomplished artists and bands including Adam Hawley, Christopher Williams, Pete Escovedo, Joel Del Rosario, Humanistic, James Levi (Herbie Hancock), Robin Duhe (MAZE), Carlos Reyes, Pee Wee Ellis, John Elefante (Kansas), Jason Scheff (Chicago), Kevin Chalfant (The Storm & Journey), and Randall Hall (Lynyrd Skynyrd).

Most recently, Otoe Mori signed with Adam Hawley’s MBF Entertainment. We are excited to announce the release of her debut single, “The Way To You”, inspired by the romantic Omiwatari legend of Japan’s Lake Suwa. Otoe draws on the tale of Takeminakata crossing the frozen waters to visit his beloved Yasakatome. The raised path of winter ice becomes a symbol of love’s enduring journey, brought to life through a vivid, yearning melody.

With expressive saxophone and heartfelt storytelling, «The Way To You» connects Otoe’s Japanese roots with her musical voice, inviting listeners into a world of longing and connection.
